Forty years later, a boat rescue crew: Captain Sean Murphy, Marine Epps, Greer, Dodge, Munder and Santos were celebrating success at a condi when Canadian weather service pilot Jack Ferriman approached them and said he had found a driver aboard the boat. When Captain Murphy arrives at the Captain's cabin, Antonia Grazer sees the Captain's ghost, explaining that they had recovered the gold from the drowning cruiser, Lorelei, the only survivor. He rushes to tell the rest of the crew, but a supernatural force sees him as a burnt ghost of Santos, and the crew thinks he has gone mad and trapped him in a tank of water. The mystery finally gives an explanation, if not resolved, and there are compelling twists in the last shot, which encourages us to re-interpret the diabolical terms and think hard about the meaning of a particular name. However, the application of the "Ghost Ship" is not final, in the process. I loved the huge old empty ballroom, the secluded corridor and the feel of a party that ended long ago (the effect is in the nautical version of Miss Havisham's sealed room). I knew that there would be unexpected shocks, sudden noises, and wonderful objections, but I have long resisted this mechanical thrill (unless they are well done, of course).
